Harvest Moon was made in collaboration with spring-time rain on a balmy afternoon- the splotched texture literally

The full harvest moon is unusually bright and appears unusually early in the evening compared to other full moons, and appearing at a consistent size- holding its form for longer rather than in a state of waxing and waning.

The harvest moon appears just at the right time, in early-mid Spring, just after sunlight; gifting farmers evening light to harvest their crops.

In the same way- this piece came about thanks to a combination of perfect timing, collaboration with and contributions from nature: a Spring-time sunshower on a balmy afternoon is responsible for its stormy feel and the speckled droplet-shaped forms:
Upon contact with the canvas, which was drying outside my studio, the rainwater moved the almost-dried mix of pigment and paint in such a way that it now appears as a galaxy.

Responding to this weathered texture, I then built up the central point using layers of water, spray paint pigment before adding the moon applique to create the impression of an early-evening, glowing full harvest moon.
