Joanne Barnes is a contemporary coastal artist from Perth, WA.
Jo strives for a peaceful lifestyle and believes that the calm nature of the works she creates adds to the all important feelings that a home should encompass - serenity and tranquility. Art has an important role as it improves the quality of our living areas and can be enjoyed for aesthetic beauty while reflecting how we feel, who we are and what our personal space means to us. Living on a beautiful two and a half acre property in the Perth foothills, she lives in peaceful surroundings every day and this has a big influence on her creative works.
Her aim with her art practice is to capture the beauty of the water and surrounds by putting brush to canvas. Living in WA all her life, Jo is inspired by all of the stunning scenery along the West Australian coastline, especially the South West which was a popular family holiday destination for herself, her husband and three children.
Jo enjoys painting with acrylics as she love the freedom it gives her. It flows and blends easily and is fast drying. Larger scale artworks are what she loves to create the most as they have a great impact on any wall which they hang. She make sure all of her artworks are finished to the highest standard with image wrapped edges and protective varnish.
