This work explores the lasting presence of my impostor syndrome and how it developed through early trauma, remaining a constant shadow into my adulthood. It reflects the internal struggle of feeling undeserving, of never being able to see oneself clearly despite external reality.
The red band across the eyes represents my distorted perception, a barrier shaped by doubt and self-questioning. Behind the figure, looping words form an unbroken circle of thoughts, the persistent internal dialogue that repeats, questions, and undermines, never fully fading.
The cracks across my body speak to the fractures left by those early experiences, they do not disappear, but they evolve. Through tears, pain becomes a form of cleansing, a necessary process of release and understanding.
From these fractures, a flower emerges. It is not a symbol of forgetting or repairing what was broken, but of transformation but the possibility of living with trauma and still allowing something gentle, alive, and meaningful to grow from it.
This piece is apart of the 2026 International Women's Day Exhibition 'Her Voice: Stories of Strength & Identity'.
