I am surrounded by strong women; my Mum, Nanna, sisters, in-laws, and friends. Women who lift me up, guide me, and shape who I am every day. Their influence exists in both quiet and powerful ways: through encouragement, shared experiences, hard conversations, laughter, and unconditional support.
Our community of women is built on reciprocity, on giving and recieving, listening and holding space for one another. None of us move through life alone. We are interwoven through shared stories, care, and resilience, each of us supporting and stengthening the others in ways both big and small.
In this work, each colour represents an important woman in my life. The strands connect and intertwine, reflecting the way our lives intersect and influence one another. I appear in white at the centre, not separate, but shaped by the colours around me. The women in my life have left their imprint on who I am, just as they themselves have been shaped by the women who came before them.
The beads represent individual pathways, the journeys each woman takes, the connections she forms, and the experiences that shape her along the way. Each pathway crosses and touches others, forming a network of shared strength and understanding.
This piece is a reflection of sisterhood and collective stength. It acknowledges that identity is never formed in isolation; it grows through relationships, support, and shared wisdom across generations. I am who I am because of these women, and I carry their influence with me always. For that, I am endlessly grateful.
