Original Acrylic on Canvas
Artwork size: 455 x 610 mm
Outer frame size: 485 x 640 mm
Stretched and float framed in a black wood frame.
This painting tells the story of water - precious, ancient, and powerful - as it winds its way through the desert heart of Shark Bay Country. The deep blue lines that cut through the ochre sands represent the hidden streams, tidal creeks, and underground soaks that breathe life into this dry land. They are the life lines - sacred veins that connect saltwater and desert, old stories and new growth.
In the centre of the artwork, people gathering representing a place people once walked. Around it, the warm, earthy tones show the surrounding desert country - rugged, sun-scorched, but rich in story and memory. The dots and patterns layered over the land represent bush tucker spots, campsites, and places where they once hunted.
This piece is apart of the 2025 NAIDOC Exhibition.
