As Peter explores patterns in his artworks, most concepts have been on simple shapes like hills and waves, but this is the first where he introduced the patterns over a known iconic landmark in the Pilbara. There are hundreds of paintings of Python Pool, and this was Peter showing it in a different way, giving the man and dog a back seat to the composition. The hero is the artwork and colour over a huge landmark. This was both an ‘Inception’ piece, and also became an ending for which he could work backwards to introduce a series about how these patterns came about.
