Haldane's "Boat" sculptures began as small, delicate pieces carved from stone and timber, but have sinced evolved into large carved, then assembled timber and metal forms, usually incorporating a figure piloting the vessel.

Working with found, discarded materials as a sculpture medium allows for the history of the material to be emphasised by finding various ways to work, and reuse the material showing it's still existent beauty beneath the scared surface.

All things bear the scars of experience that their journey imparts on them and remain evident from one voyage to the next, thus eluding to their narrative so far.
