This is the second time I have produced a painting of Eve, the first being at the age of 15. Being raised in the Catholic Church as a child, I was well aware of the sins of Eve. Throughout the ages women have suffered because of the story of Eve, in the Middle Ages women were often regarded as a “necessary evil”. This saddens me, so when I worked on this painting I decided to depict just the story of Eve without the various beliefs attached to it, for they belong to the individual viewer.
