    98 x 76.5 cm

    Description

This still life is filled with an abundance of native Western Australian flowers - kangaroo paws, gum flowers and bottlebrush curve and flow around the central banksia. Two New Holland Honeyeaters playing in the foliage bring extra life to the piece. The vase is decorated with a stalk of pink foxgloves, a common flower to be found in Nicola's original home in Scotland. The painting is made up of loose washes of colour and areas of finer detail with intricate linework resulting in a flow of busy and quiet, light and dark. The black ink creates a stained glass effect with thin lines building up to heavy and finished with a black border painted out to the torn and deckled edges. This artwork has been professionally framed utilising reflection free art glass, paired with an Italian Belini craftsman formal soft black frame, floated and spaced within the mount.
