'"A Voice For Her" - for my grandmother Gertrude May Rose

Fear and pain had silenced her voice, and she had carried he weight of her experiences.

Her silence didn't erase her story. Instead, it lived on through me, her grandchild. I remembered the lines on her face and the love in her heart. And I knew I had to tell her story, to give voice to the truths she couldn't share. 

I felt her presence, her pain, and her love. I painted for her, for the stories she couldn't tell, for the freedom she could never speak.

Through art, I found a way to heal the wounds of the past.

As I painted, I felt Gertrude's spirit stir. Her story, once silences, now spoke volumes. And in that moment, I knew her truth would live on, a testament to the strength and resilience of our people.'
